Buyer's licence brief

The plain-English companion to the formal LICENSE file shipped with the software. Where the two diverge, the LICENSE file controls.

What you bought

A perpetual or term-bound right to deploy the software for your own internal use, and the source for the purpose of auditing and integrating that deployment. You did not buy a redistributable copy. The line is not whether the code reaches your hard drive (it does) but whether it reaches a third party's (it must not).

The tiers

Individual Practitioner is one named person. The seat is the buyer and does not transfer. When three or more colleagues need it, Enterprise is the correct purchase.

Enterprise covers a single legal entity at unlimited seats on an annual term. Files may circulate within that entity, not to subsidiaries, parents, partners or contractors without a separate licence.

What you may do

Run the software on machines you own or control; modify the source to integrate with your infrastructure; write your own recognisers, deployment scripts and dashboards on top; study the source for due-diligence and your regulator's questions; keep reasonable working backups.

What you may not do

Redistribute the software; host it as a service for any party other than the licensee; build a competing product from it; strip the SAFER marks, attribution, copyright notices or tier markers; exceed your seat limit; or, on an Individual licence, place the files where more than one person reads them.

The licence.key file

Identifies you as licensee and names your tier. It is cryptographically signed; enforcement is strict. Permissive operation is not offered for purchased deployments — a named, paid buyer is a contract before it is a configuration, and the technical posture is set to match the contract rather than trust it silently.

Refunds

Available within seven days of purchase where the software has not been downloaded. Once downloaded, value has been delivered. Enterprise engagements that include scoping or custom recogniser work follow the refund terms in the engagement letter.

The SAFER framework

The SAFER framework (Secure, Accountable, Filtered, Ethical, Resilient) and its instruments are the author's intellectual contribution. Use it as a working vocabulary inside your organisation; do not package it for resale, paid teaching, or a derivative work published under your own name.

When in doubt

Email hello@raphaelamponsah.com with a one-paragraph description of the intended use. A clear permission granted beats a stretched interpretation discovered later.
