Browser extension

The companion is the local engine. The extension is what watches the prompt box on the AI sites and calls the companion before anything is sent. You need both.

Load it (Chrome / Edge)

The extracted app folder contains a browser-extension folder. Note its path.
Open chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions).
Turn on Developer mode (top-right).
Click Load unpacked and select the browser-extension folder.
The SAFER X REDACT icon appears in the toolbar. Pin it.

Verify it's working

The toolbar badge shows ON (green) when it can reach the local companion, OFF (red) when it cannot.
Open the popup: it shows licence tier, companion status, and a live scan count.
On a supported site, a small floating shield appears near the prompt box. It pulses while scanning and shows how many entities were regenerated.

Supported sites

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Bing, Mistral, Perplexity, Poe, You.com. On any of these, type a prompt with a name, email or account number and press Enter — the extension pauses the send, redacts, then lets it through.

Fail-closed behaviour

If the companion is unreachable, the licence is invalid/expired, or the seat limit is exceeded, the extension blocks the send and shows a banner explaining why. It never silently lets an unredacted prompt through. Start the companion (green tray dot) and retry.

Updating the extension

When you receive an updated build, replace the browser-extension folder and click the refresh icon on the extension card in chrome://extensions.
